Challenge
With a workforce of more than 7,500 employees worldwide and nearly half of whom travel regularly for business, Finastra, a global financial software company, faced a significant challenge in ensuring the safety and well-being of their employees when traveling on business.
They wanted to formalize their travel risk management program, aligning their program with ISO 31030:2021 travel risk management – guidance for organizations, to ensure that they were not only meeting, but exceeding industry standards in supporting and protecting their traveling employees.
APPROACH
Working alongside BCD’s travel team, Advito’s travel risk management consultants and employee engagement experts met with Finastra’s business resilience, global travel and security teams over two days to conduct an in-depth analysis of Finastra’s safety measures using the Traveler Security Program Assessment (TSPA).
They used their first-hand expertise to objectively review and analyze the client’s program, identifying gaps and making strategic recommendations for improvements to close any identifiable gaps in all aspects of their travel risk program. They also examined areas of real success, where Finastra’s program was working well.
Eleven key areas of the travel risk management program, from ownership and awareness to policy, prevention, and traveler tracking were reviewed by the team. With these insights, they presented a detailed evaluation as well as specific and actionable measures for improvement.
RESULTS
The assessment revealed that Finastra had several areas of a well-managed travel risk management program, particularly with a robust travel program; however, some areas required additional attention to move toward a defined program. As a result of the evaluation, Finastra developed a dedicated travel risk policy, which set a higher bar for traveler safety and support.
Based on the documented findings, Advito also developed a communications strategy to keep Finastra’s employees educated and engaged, ensuring the future success of the plan. Now, Finastra is not only meeting but exceeding industry standards when it comes to traveler safety and duty of care.
“Ensuring the safety and security of our employees as they travel on business for Finastra is our utmost priority. That’s why we needed to ensure that our travel program and travel security procedures, and new travel risk policy, are fit-for-purpose and ready for any eventuality.”
